We have finally finished our mission trip to Beaumont Texas. On Thursday night the entire group worshiped in the church for one last time. We sang songs and worshiped the Lord with our crew members. After that we did the usual Senior Affirmations which is always a difficult night for the entire youth group. But our spirits were not low for long, because the boys had there annual bottle fight with the kids from Minnesota. On Friday morning we woke up at about six o’clock and started our journey to Jackson Tennessee to watch the AA baseball team of the Seattle Mariners. The night was a warm, but exciting night that finished with a fireworks display that dazzled all of us. Tomorrow we will head back to the Windy City hopefully looking forward to some weather that is not in triple digits. To recap the week we learned that Jesus came to save us from our oppressions, give sight to the blind, release the captives, give hope to the poor, and show us His eternal favor. Most of us had a productive work camp, but just because some of us didn’t doesn’t mean that we didn’t accomplish what we came to do. We gave materials and friendship to people that have nothing. Even though some of the leaders from Texas and Minnesota were a little bossy we were able to have a good time. The week started out very awkwardly between the three different groups that were there but by Monday night we were playing soccer, kickball, and one of CCC’s new games, Execution (editor’s note: don’t worry parents, its just another form of dodgeball); invented by Mike Flavin. We cannot wait to get back to air conditioning, our own personal showers where we don’t have to share with five other people, and to our families. Yet we hate to leave because what we come away with will last us for the rest of our lives. We would like to thank everyone who helped raise money and all who have been praying for us this past week. We love all of you and see you in church Sunday morning.
Steven Ipema and Adam Potter.
