My name is Carrie Dura and I am a senior at Oregon State University and will be graduating in June with a Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology. I currently live at Courtyard in Corvallis, Oregon with a house full of amazing men and women of God. After college I plan to go to Italy to serve God, but after that I don’t have any plans other than getting a job and I’m not sure where God will place me.
My goal for life is to serve God with all the passions, talents, and gifts that God has given me. Living and being outside in nature, observing and learning about animals, teaching and exhorting people, and traveling are the passions of my heart. Some hobbies of mine are painting and drawing, hiking and camping, backpacking and photography. Gifts I believe that God has given me are exhorting people from my past experiences and observations, giving people mercy and grace, meeting and understanding people where they’re at in life, and a heart that empathizes and hurts for the hurting.
I heard about Kingdom Ministries and the mission’s trip to Italy through Andrew Stone, who use to live at Courtyard once upon a time. I’ve always felt God calling me to travel around the world, and when I heard about this opportunity, I knew God was calling me to Italy. One of the contributing factors in my decision was that I had applied for my passport in winter break, even though I was planning to apply for it during spring break, because I felt God was telling me to. I do not believe it was a coincidence. With continuous praying and through multiple training, I am more convinced this is where God wants me to go.
While in Italy we will be reaching out to the Italian people through camps and by connecting with the Italian church. Two weeks of day camps will be held through Kingdom Ministries, a non-profit organization. The first week two camps will be held for the kids of the Italian military at the Italian Air Force bases in Cervia, the second week will be held at Romeo in Cesenatico. My goals while embarking on this adventure are, first to grow deeper and stronger in my relationship and connection with God. Second, I want to grow in my relationship with fellow believers, in the team and Italy. My third goal is to serve in any way I am needed, whether it be by directly serving the kids as a camp leader or indirectly by serving as support crew, I want God to use me as part of the whole team to reach the people of Italy.
To accomplish these goals with the team I am going with, we need prayer. Please pray: that God prepares us individually and as a team, that God guides us in accomplishing his mission he is sending us on, that we have time with the Italian and have fun together as a team and with the Italian people and kids, that God prepares us to be ready to share our faith, that we have humble and teachable hearts ready to serve. The second way to accomplish our goals is financially. If you could partner with us to help God accomplish his goal, any amount helps. The total cost for the trip is $3,500 and is needed by June 21st. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our cause and mission to serve our almighty God and reach the people of Italy.
